House of timber merchant Trofim Chulkov

This stone two-storey building is just over a hundred years old. Perhaps for someone it will seem plain and uninteresting. Nevertheless, try to imagine Tsaryovokokshaysk with its ramshackle wooden houses, when Chulkov's house seemed to be the hottest new trend for the contemporaries: arched windows, brick fretwork, forged decorative fixtures. It was built in the Art Nouveau style by Chulkov, the timber merchant. Currently, this old house is occupied by the Museum of the Yoshkar-Ola History.
