Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos

The temple is very beautiful and unusual. The temple walls are made of light brown bricks, the clear blue domes are studded with the golden stars. At night, the temple is magnificently illuminated and gives an amazing impression.

On August 28, 2006, on the Assumption Day, a newly built church was consecratedin the territory of the Government House of the Mari ElRepublic.

It was decided to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War with the construction of this temple. The church derived its name in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary for a certain reason. For several centuries, the main Russian cathedral of Russia, namely the Dormition Cathedral in Moscow, was the site of the most important national events. It was there that the tsars of Moscow were crowned, the rulers of Russia were married, the heads of the Russian Orthodox Church (metropolitans, and then patriarchs) were buried. Thus, the DormitionCathedral was closely related to all the most important events in the life of our Fatherland.
