Fedor Ioannovich

Tsar of Russia and Grand Prince of Moscow, the third son of Ivan IV the Terrible and Tsarina Anastasia RomanovnaZakharyina-Yuryeva. In fact, he was the last representative of the Moscow Rurikovich in the male line.

The “Tsar's City on theKokshaga” was founded in 1584 during the reign of Tsar Fyodor Ioannovich by his the personal decree “Year 7092. The same year, and in Cheremis, the Tsar's City”, after the death of Ivan the Terrible.

Yoshkar-Ola is the only city in Russia where a full-height monument to Tsar Fedor Ioannovich has been erected.

The monument was erected on November 2, 2009.

The sculptor is Andrey Nikolaevich Kovalchuk.
