There is an Evseev National Museum located in the capital of theMari ElRepublic. It shows the entire regional history and ethnography in its exhibitions. This is the oldest museum of the republic, the leading scientific, methodological and information center for all regional museums.
The museum collection includes the following: an archaeological collectionshowing the early medieval and ancient history of the Mari Volga region, an ethnographic collection with the unique household items, jewelry and national clothes, interior items of the 18th-19th centuries made of bronze, silver, and brass, medieval weapons, a numismatic collection, musical instruments of the Mari people, etc.
The permanent exhibition is titled “Rites of the life cycle. Traditional culture of the Mari people of the 19th-20th centuries”.
