Alexander Efimovich Kotomkin-Savinsky

Alexander Kotomkin-Savinsky is a Mari folklorist, guslar, military man andpoet. He is a native of the village of Savino and a resident of Tsarevokokshaysk. In his native city, he was educated and chose a military career. He lived an eventful life. Alexander Kotomkin has been writing poetry since the age of 15. For 79 years of his life, he wrote 15 poetry collections and memoirs.

In February 2013, the head of the Mari El Republic established a prize named after Kotomkin-Savinsky for special achievements in the field of literature, art and architecture.
