Patriarchal Square

In 2010, another new square appeared in Yoshkar-Ola, which made it possible to arrange grandiose mass events. It was named in honor of the monument to Patriarch Alexy II erected here. At certain hours, the main building of the square, reminiscent of Yurin castle of Count Sheremetev, becomes a platform for the procession of the twelve apostles and Jesus Christ walking in front. The Republican Puppet Theater inspired by a fairy-tale castle in Bavaria has ascendedin the neighborhood. Here, on Patriarchal Square, a sculptural composition and a chapel in honor of Saints Peter and Fevronia, the patrons of the family and marriage, are installed.

In summer, the "Summer Seasons" theater festival is held here - ballet dancers perform their graceful action on an open-air stage, a live orchestra plays and the castle with a clock becomes a platform for opera singers.
