Fountain-monument to Peter and Fevronia

The monument to Saints Peter and Fevronia is not an ordinary sculpture, but a monument combined with a fountain.

It was unveiled on November 4, 2010 on the Day of National Unity and the 90th Anniversary of the Mari El Republic. It is located on Patriarchal Square. The sculptural composition is two-figured: the holy nobles Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia of Murom stand on a small elevation.There is an inscriptionon a scroll that Peter holds in his right hand: "Husbands, love your wives. Wives, obey your husbands, as to the Lord."
