The Central Park of Culture and Leisure

The main park of the city has its own history. At the time of Tsarevokokshaysk (Tsaryovokokshaysk - the name of Yoshkar-Ola till 1919) a part of the park area served as fair. In another part there was the town cemetery. In the 1920s it was decided to create a dendrologist nursery on the area of the former cemetery and the fair, and in 1948 the nursery became the Central Park. Here is a national monument "A life Tree" symbolizing the continuity of culture and traditions of the Mari people.

The Park is a very attractive place in which to relax particularly on a hot summer day. If you are brave enough and want to have some fun please check out our exciting roller coasters. Children can spend time in the children's playgrounds "Kremlin" and "Frigate". You can also find a tennis court, several cafes and a snake bars in the park.

There is also Military Glory Memorial Complex in the Central Park. Here you can be photographed with military equipment, with the Monument of Military Glory and walk along the alley of Heroes of the Soviet Union to the Eternal flame.
